Martin Öhlin is facing a racing debut this weekend. He will enter his first 24-hour race and the venue is Nürburgring Nordschleife, one of the most difficult and demanding tracks in the world. Martin Öhlins is ready for the challenge.
– Positionwise I don’t have much expectations, I will tackle this as a great experience and preparation for future enduraceraces, he says. This will be a lot of fun and the whole experience from the weekend will be the dominant factor for me.

Martin is one of several Swedish drivers who are driving for Schubert Motorsport, a german-based BMW-team that has almost become a Swedish team with many Swedish drivers in their line-up. Joining Martin in the team is Richard Göransson, his team-mate at WestCoast Racing, who as well as Martin will be driving a BMW Z4 GT3. This will be Richards fifth 24-hour race at Nordschleife and he has given Martin valuable advice on how to tackle and prepare for the 24 hours.
– I’ve been getting some advice on how you prepare yourself and how to get some rest between the stints, Martin explains. I gonna take it step by step this weekend and try and get as much rest as possible between driving.

Martin will share a BMW Z4 GT3 with fellow Swedish drivers Edward Sandström and Patrick Söderlund and they will also be joined by German driver Marko Hartung. They will be driving up to 1,5 hour long stints each, and they have already driven a four hour race at Nordschleife together.
– The track is amazing and the new car is getting better and better. I think this will be a really fun race, our car and the team is good enough to fight at the top but for both me, Edward and Patrick this is a new experience, 24 hours at this track. I’m looking forward to learn as much as possible about endurance racing which is something I want to do more of in the future, Martin finishes.

Practice and qualification will be held on Thursday and Friday, before the start of the race on Saturday at 3 pm with the finish of the race 24 hours later on Sunday at 3 pm. Martin Öhlin will share the # 76 BMW Z4 GT3 with Edward Sandström, Patrick Söderlund and Marko Hartung.
