From Nordschleife to Karlskoga. Martin Öhlin traded in the BMW Z4 GT3 he brought home fourth overall at Nürburgring 24 hours last weekend and got his Porsche GT3 Cup back for the fifth and sixth round in Carrera Cup Scandinavia.

This weekend it was time for the championship to head to Karlskoga and Gelleråsen, a track Marin knows very well and the venue for his double victory last season. After topping the time sheets in practice Martin qualified fourth for the Friday evening race. A race where conditions were tricky, the skies opened shortly before the race and the track was soaking wet when the race started 7,40 pm.

Martin endured a difficult race, he had a couple of offs and struggled initially not happy with his own driving.
– I know two things, the alternative route is not quicker and the old section of the track is slower than the new section. Unfortunately I apparently had to try both in this race. Not happy with my driving, he said afterwards.
He fought back in the later stage of the race and finished sixth and an impressive comeback drive.
– This was not a good day, actually a bit boring but we will fight back tomorrow, he promised.

Despite the difficulties Martin managed to set the fourth best time in the first race and for the second race he lined up fourth on the grid once again. On Saturday the sun was shining over Gelleråsen and Martin fulfilled his promise of making amends for the Friday race. After a tough fight the first couple of laps he could steal third place, and once there he managed to get away and towards the end of the race catch up with the leaders. He finished third, happy to be back on the podium again.
– I’m pretty pleased. I messed up yesterday and could make up for it today. I never felt I got into the rhythm and found the right feeling this weekend. It took some time to get into it but it turned out okay in the end. I’m going home feeling happy, he summarized.

Martin Öhlin is third in the championship after six races. Next race is Göteborg City Race in two weeks time.
