Next stop in Carrera Cup Scandinavia is a month away. Martin Öhlin, currently third in the standings, now heads to Silverstone this weekend for the next round in Carrera Cup GB. This will be his first race in Carrera Cup GB and at Silverstone and Martin looks forward to the experience.
– This is a big challenge, he says. I am really looking forward to drive at Silverstone, it’s a classic race track and it will be an exciting challenge.

Martin Öhlin has already had time to mix his race programme in Sweden with international appearances this year. Earlier this season he drove a BMW Z4 GT3 in the German VLN-championship and he topped that by finish fourth overall in the classic 24-hour race at Nürburgring.
– The plan was to drive more races in Europe this year to further develop as a driver, Martin explains. I had a very successful programme in Germany and now I look forward to race the Porsche in UK. It won’t be easy, the standard in the British championship is very high and this will be both a learning and fun race weekend for me.

Dick Jönsson-Wigroth, teammanager for WestCoast Racing that fields cars both in Carrera Cup Scandinavia and the Swedish Touringcar Championship, feels the team has benefits from seeing their drivers race as much as possible.
– Since a couple of years our drivers have combined their programme with us with selected rounds in Europe and that have benefitted us as a team, he says. We have advantages from having our drivers race as much as possible and that’s also in line with our philosophy. We want to be present in as many places as possible and continuously build more experience and knowledge. Martin will face a tough competition and learn at lot at Silverstone which will make him well prepared for the remaining races back home.
